HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- With the Danish fast approaching and the heel acting up, I figured it was important to get out for a decent run outdoors here in the next few days. This was a four mile course that went from the Y to Laurel, up to Hollywood and then back through tourist central.
It was early in the afternoon, so the heat was a hurdle in my mind, but after the first mile, I was pretty sure I'd made the right decision. About the time I got to Hollywood, however, I was second guessing myself. Too hot, no water and I hadn't eaten much of anything. But got through it relatively strong with decent speed and form the whole way through. Couldn't get those fish tacos fast enough afterward though.
I'm writing this Saturday morning and the heel update is positive. Wearing the sandals, focusing on hitting further forward on my right foot and just getting out on the roads again has gotten the heel back to something pretty close to normal. Long-term, I'm guessing, this method will put it right.
